Sturdy Bitch - First Race of the Season

Wow, 2 posts for Saturday and Sunday - little weird but Saturday's road ride was so great and our first race day was just about as fun.   Both days dawned bright and beautiful, almost 60 degrees both days which in February, for Seattle, is simply incredible.  3 of the 4 of us had a wonderful day on the road bike as evidenced by the photos from the previous blog about Saturday.  We came back together  plus Katie, for our first race together as Sturdy Bitch Racing and for another lovely day in Seattle.

Sunday's race was at Dash Point State Park in Federal Way.  Having ridden at Dash Point when we did the Diamondback demos on the Sortie Blacks, I have to admit to some shock at how much climbing there was on the course.  Each lap was only a little more than 3.5 miles with arond 1k of climbing. Really?  At Dash Point?   That's what the techy tools said and dang it sure felt like it!  The race was set up to run only an hour for each class so the Beginner class got in 1 lap, Sport/SS 2, and Expert 3.

The race was the first in the Budu Racing Series and I'm sure we'll be back to partake of more of the fun.  Due to "kid stuff" Katie was running a little late and missed the Expert Race so she hung out with me in Sport class. Katie's been toying with the idea of moving up to Expert class too so look for her in future races. Jodi, a veteran Expert racer and Virginia (first Expert race ever!) headed out at 10:30AM for their laps.  Sport class took off a little late at 12:15 or so for our 2 laps.

Sturdy Bitch Racing pulled in 3 podium finishes (Jodi - 1st/Expert, Katie 1st Sport 30-39, Susan 2nd Sport 40+) and Virginia pulled in an awesome 4th place finish in her debut as an Expert class racer.  Not too shabby for our debut race as a team!    We're very proud to be together and represent Sturdy Bitch, Big Tree Bikes, Diamondback Bikes, Rocket Promo, and Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance

Looking forward to the next rides and races and a fun season together!  Get out there and ride!
