Everyone says "you'll be bored" during taper.  Nope!  Lots of stuff to do including getting toes done, shopping for items to fit in our the one bag we get to bring, prepping bikes, putting together a tool kit, buying six-zillion chamois, more CLIF Shots, Bloks, electrolyte drink, the list goes on...

But  - what we're going to do this weekend, June 19,  is head out to Duthie Hill for the first ever Duthie Hill XC Race  put on by the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance!  As you may remember Duthie recently had it's grand opening.  Duthie is really well known for it's free ride and big drops and gaps b/c that's where the action and where the videos tend to be filmed.  What will be featured on Saturday will be the XC trails which are also technical in their own way with roots, switchbacks, berms, optional log rides and ladders.  The XC trails will be closed from 9-5pm while Beginners through Expert test their skill and metal on the course.  For details, click on the Duthie Hill XC Race link above.  If you're not sure you're up for racing - you can come out and volunteer to help!

In addition to the racing, there will be a food tent and a beer garden with, rumor has it, beer from Snoqualmie Brewery.  What more could one want besides maybe some sunshine???  If you said "I wish I could buy a Sturdy Bitch tee" or "win a super-cool Smoking Loon Cruiser"...well you just might be able to do both as well!

Sturdy Bitch Racing will be there selling Sturdy Bitch  gear including various t-shirt styles, socks, hats, etc.  In addition to the "bitchin'" gear, we'll be raffling off the Smoking Loon Cruiser pictured.  Raffle tickets will be $5 or 3 for $10.  In addition to the cruiser there will be other prizes including sweatshirts, tees, wine (for those over 21) as well as other items as we gather them.  Proceeds from the raffle will go to finish off the BC Bike Race entries and 50% will be donated to the Breast Cancer Fund .  

As you my remember, the Breast Cancer Fund is a 501(c)(3) that advocates for the identification and elimination of the environmental causes of breast cancer.  Most of us have friends and family members touched by this devastating disease.  We're proud to support the Breast Cancer Fund in their mission to find the cause and work to eliminate it.   Thanks to Evergreen for letting us crash the event, sell some gear and raise $$ for this great charity!

We also want to say a special thanks to Don and Sons  for donating the cruiser bike.  Wonderful that they are so generous to support Sturdy Bitch Racing and the Breast Cancer Fund.  When you see their brands on the shelves, we hope you support them by giving them a try.  Brands include Smoking Loon, Flock (my personal favorite), B Side, Aquinas, Crusher, S|K|N, and Pepperwood Grove.
